Poros village is located at a distance of about 25km south of Lefkada town. It has a population of about 300 inhabitants. It is located close to the sea and yet almost unspoiled. The hillside on which Poros is built is rather steep. You will be charmed by narrow alleys and beautiful traditional houses. The village runs down to the excellent beach at Rounda Bay.
This is a magical place suited to fishing and bathing. There is a camp site with its own restaurant and shop. In summer, tavernas are open along the beach and also to the left, in the direction of the little jetty, where you can hire sun beds and umbrellas.
Above the village, at an altitude of 800 metres, are the remains of a tower, which was presumably built there to keep watch over the area. The tower and the olive press that stands near it gate from the 4th century BC. You can also visit the church of Analipsi for the magnificent wall paintings of the 16th century
There is a popular religious feast here on December the 6th, St Nicholas day, with music, dancing and eating and drinking.
The small fishing harbour of Micros Yialos and its beautiful beaches are located in the area.
The beauty of the combination of colours in the white pebbles, the deep water and the fringe of olive trees is truly unforgettable. The track along the south side of Rouda Bay leads round the cape to Syvota.
