Between Lygia and Perigiali, 9km from the capital of the island, on the East coast is located the wonderful picturesque fishing village of Nikiana.
It is built at the foot of the Skaros Mountain, it is a combination of verdant green and magical azure, which offers comfort and variety during your holiday as you can find whatever you want here. The village is spread ou along the coast road, 7 kilometres away from the village of Nidri. This place is a popular overnignt stop for private yachts. It has very good accommodation options, as it is rapidly turning into a tourist resort.
Nikiana is prefered area for families for its close proximity to Lefkada town. You can go shopping to the Lefkada town either by bus or by a rented car.
You will find here a few bars, restaurants, cafes and minimarkets along the main street. You can enjoy a delicious food in the waterfront tavernas while observating sunst as the mountains on the mainland turn red. The Harbour is also very nice place to stay and watch the local fishermen bringing their catch.
Nikiana was first settled by villagers from the upland community of Alexandros, to which there is a road up the hill.
There are good but narrow beaches all the way along the coast. The beaches are pebble and quiet except in the middle of the summer. The neighbouring beaches are that of Episkopos and Ligia.
Nikiana is an ideal place for windsurfing and fishing as well as for climbing, with the ability to offer every visitor whatever they may desire.
A little further is the hermitage of Agios Pateres (the Holy Fathers) with a panoramic view and also the important mountain settlements of Alexandros and Kolyvata which are worth a visit as is the Skaros mountain where you will find the unique oak wood.
Nikiana is also home to the Lefkas Diving Center.
