Among all the restaurants the claim to serve traditional dishes, Stelios is truly a one of a kind. You won't be bored with the next souvlaki or standard pre-prepared tzatziki, you'll be surprised with a delicate parade of taste. Stelios serves great food, prepared with love. Like Michelin would put it: his cuisine is worth a detour while traveling.

Since we want to be as close as possible to porto katsiki, we have only one choice villa Varoli.
How is the accommodation there? How far it is from the beach?is it walkable?is it very high on the hill in the trees so that we don't even know we are next to a sea :-)? is there any restaurant and market near the accommodation?
Thank You :-)

An unforgettable beach with crystal clear, turquoise waters and impressive rocks overlooking the beach. Without doubt the most unique attraction on the island, and an absolute MUST for any traveller to Lefkada.
One vital tip: best time to visit is June and early July, preferably between 9-11.30 am (from 11.30 onwards tourist boats start making their appearance, carrying hundreds of tourists from Nydri and other parts of the island).
From July onwards, and esp. in August, the narrow road leading to the beach becomes a nightmare, as cars going back and forth need to take turns, because the road itself only has space enough for one lane of traffic for about 80% of its length!

Thank you for this amazing post. Occasionally, the best knowledge originate from the places you wouldn't expect. Up unitll now, I did not give a lot of thought to placing comments on blog articles and have left opinions even less. Taking note of your pleasant article, will inspire me to take action more regularly.

The Egremni beach was absolutely breathtaking...
Blue crystalclear water, mountains behind you and the best barman I have ever met (He gives you drinks for free)...

I spent 10 day on the island and I saw a lot of beautiful beaches and I was overwhelmed by the contrast between the mountains and the sea... I know for sure where will I spent my next holiday...

You should rent a motorbike and travel all over the island, is the best way to fell that you are there and you can have an unique sensation floating on the small and curved mountain roads...

All the beaches near Nidri are shingle or pebble, but they are all very safe for swimming. The northern part of the beach at Nidri is as good as any locally.

Sandy beaches are all on the west coast and you will will not be able to get direct buses over there, you will have to hire a vehicle of some sort.

Swimming on the east coast is far safer and better than on the west coast.

No dangers at all :
The drive from Parga to Preveza is an incredibly beautiful road.
If you travel in the middle of the afternoon (approx. 4pm) on a weekday you'll find that there's hardly any traffic at all in June/July (August gets busy).
Once through the tunnel the road to Lefkada is relatively easy and flat.
From Lefkada town to Porto Katsiki - once again the roads are fine.
The last 3 km can be more difficult : it is a small country road.
But we did it again last August with our big yellow car without any problem :)
Good luck and have a nice time.
